16th-19th June 2016
The first of its kind in London, this summer a floating market will take over the canals of Paddington.
Expect a backdrop of modern architecture juxtaposed by the traditional canal boats selling their wares in the Paddington Basin. There is an amazing line-up of traders with a range of delights to browse and buy. The Record Deck will be there selling vintage and collectible records as will the Book Barge, an independent book shop on a narrow boat. The Floating Showroom, the ever evolving canal boat of fun, will also be there providing workshops such as terrarium making, origami poetry with an on-board poet and crafty gift making classes. The Village Butty will also be cruising along to Paddington bringing their eclectic floating village hall. A welcoming space where you can relax with a hot or cold drink, maybe play a board game or listen to some live acoustic music.
The Herbal Barge are London’s first floating herbal apothecary, they have an on board clinic and shop all on a lovingly restored Dutch barge boat. There will also be canal boats selling art, jewellery and handmade scarves. So something to tickle all your fancies at The Floating Market.
There will also be plenty of land based fun; the Crave Street Food Market will be curating the food offering. Bringing the finest of their wide-ranging collection of eateries including Indian hot kati rolls from Kolkata, gourmet French cuisine from Laurent’s Kitchen and Smells like Greece will be bringing their mouth-watering souvlaki and other Grecian treats. There are also some more delectable delights from our continental cousins in Spain with tapas from Campana and fresh handmade pasta from Pasta Mista.
A lovely chance to explore London’s canals and enjoy Merchant Square with its mix of café’s, restaurants and bars all centred on the glorious Regents Canal.
The Floating Market is open Thursday 16th of June to Sunday the 19thJune 2016 10am-6pm daily.
